Jubilee Life College

Launched in September 2014, Jubilee Life College aims to help people gain confidence in themselves, through acquiring new skills, interacting socially, and attending regularly.

We run various courses each term and aim to improve future prospects for each student whether that is improving confidence, developing social skills or gaining qualifications. Our learners come from a variety of backgrounds and situations: long term unemployed, mental health issues, ex-offenders and/or learning difficulties or additional learning needs and those experiencing social exclusion.

The courses are run during the day and are FREE TO ATTEND. There are 3 terms of 10 weeks each term. The courses are usually from September-December; January-March and April-July.

What our students say about the difference our courses have made.

I have made friends and I am improving my artistic side.  My spelling has also improved.  The classes have helped to make me feel happy and stronger within myself.

Before I started these classes, I was insecure, anxious and shy.  I had problems leaving the house, and thought all people were bad but since starting the group, I have met some really nice people.  They have been nice and considerate, and explained things to me properly so that I understand.  My level of confidence has grown to the stage where I can enter a room with people in it and not worry about getting hurt.

Attending Life College has made a big difference for me. I was frustrated with my arthritis and mobility issues but attending has helped me feel calmer and have met lots of new people. It makes me want to leave the house and the exercises have helped my arthritis.

I saw the course advertised on Facebook and was suffering with anxiety and depression. Attending the Craft group has helped me make new friends and my social skills and confidence have improved. I don't feel like an outcast anymore and feel included. I am now volunteering at my local church and a wildlife hospital.

I have experienced depression and loneliness for a number of years but attending Life College has really helped me. The people are so nice and friendly and I am so much more confident now. Because of Life College I now realise that I am able to do things and led to me starting to volunteer for a local charity.
